Recent Searches v0.1.4
Motivation:
How many times have you searched for someone on one search engine, were dissatisfied and wanted to search for the same thing in another search engine?
Simply right click on any search box and click "Recent Searches" and it will pull recent searches that you performed within the last 2 days and allow you to paste it with just one click.
Features:
This extension is pretty simple and only does one thing. And it's completely keyboard accessible for the keyboard savvy. Just press Up/Down/Enter/Escape to control which text gets inserted!
This extension is designed to be light on resources. It doesn't listen to any events and only reacts when the context menu option is selected.
Note that this extension doesn't work on the Firefox Add-ons webpage and the Firefox Settings webpage due to sandbox restrictions set by Firefox.
Data Source:
Your past searches is only pulled from the URLs in your browser's history. If you clear your history, your past searches will be inaccessible. This extension does not pull your past searches from what you actually type into search fields because that would be much more complex and would degrade your browser's performance. That's why it will only inspect the last 48 hours of your browser's history as a performance trade off.
Permissions and Privacy:
This extension requires "history" permissions because it will pull your recent searches from your browser history. Nothing is shared with anyone and nothing leave your computer.
Security Analysis:
While it appears that your history entries appear on the current webpage, rest assured that it isn't, otherwise it would expose your history to the webpage. What happens is that your history is loaded inside an iframe on that webpage and since the webpage is on a different domain than the iframe, it cannot access the data inside it so your history is secured.
