Bookmark Carousel v0.0.2
Bookmark Carousel is an add-on for Firefox that enables the easy sequential navigation of all bookmarked web pages within a specified folder of bookmarks. This add-on may be useful for navigating through a list of regularly visited web sites allowing the user to easily skip through the list and identify web sites of interest.
When activated, the user is presented with a popup window displaying the previous, current and next bookmarks in the folder. The user can navigate through the bookmark list using the mouse wheel, keyboard arrows or by clicking the navigation icons. The selected bookmark can be loaded into the current tab by clicking or pressing 'enter'. Using a middle-click, ctrl-click or pressing '+' will load the bookmark into a new tab
Upon activation, if the web page of the current active tab matches one of the bookmarks, navigation will be aligned so that the matching bookmark is the 'previously' navigated bookmark, otherwise, navigation will start with the first bookmark in the folder.
The popup window will allow the user to:
1. Load the current bookmark into the current tab and advance to the next bookmark, or;
2. Load the current bookmark into a new tab and advance to the next bookmark, or;
3. Skip to the previous or next bookmark without loading the current bookmark.
The previous and next bookmarks in the list are shown in a less prominent typeface to aid navigation. If any of the previous, current or next bookmarks are already open, they will be presented with an italic typeface.
To enable speedy navigation, a drop-down grid of bookmarks is also available.
Individual bookmark labels can be assigned various colours so that the user can more easily identify similar bookmarks. Unfortunately, these colours are for navigation only and can not be assigned to the browser tab once loaded.
The width of the popup will vary to accommodate the length of the bookmark names in the selected folder. This width selected aims to allow for the average width of all bookmark names to be displayed without truncation.
The user can filter the bookmarks in the current folder by typing a search term when the popup is visible. The grid view will be automatically displayed showing only those bookmarks that match the search criteria. The filter is re-evaluated each time another character is typed.
